Cambria California Area Guide

Moonstone Beach and More!

To put it very simply: there are things to do in Cambria CA that few other places in the world can offer. Start off your day by taking a stroll down to Moonstone Beach, where in the right months you can catch elephant seals basking their wrinkles in the sand and sun. Or head to the hills on foot or on horseback, and take in some of the most inspiring vistas you could hope to see in a lifetime.

San Luis Obispo County is home to 46 West Wineries, a collection of renowned vineyards about 20 miles inland from Fireside Inn. Rocky Creek Cellars, Hunt Cellars, Grey Wolf and Peachy Canyon are among the 16 unique vineyards and wineries that call the area home.

Or for those of you who might be into more whimsical Cambria CA activities, might we recommend the weird but wonderful Nit Witt Ridge, a house crafted entirely of “found” objects collected over 50 years by its builder, a California junkyard peddler named Arthur Beal (natives called him by his nickname, “der Tinkerpaw”).  And finally, as a capstone to Cambria CA events and activities, there’s the mysterious and brooding Hearst Castle, the former palatial residence of William Randolph Hearst, a legendary newspaper tycoon from the bygone heydays of American tabloid journalism. Administered by the U.S. Park Service, it is worth the price of admission.
