Free Things to Do in Cambria California

Art Galleries and Central Coast CA Beaches

It’s no secret that Cambria’s an epicenter for Central coast CA events.  But some things in life should be free and enjoyable, and Cambria shines in that department.

Moonstone Beach:

As far as Cambria CA activities, what could be more freeing than Moonstone Beach itself, home to pounding surf and magnificent elephant seals? Wade in the waves and walk among the miniature tide-pools that spring up around here at low tide. Celebrated among central California coast beaches, it will be unforgettably worth your while, and it won’t cost you a red cent.

Piedras Negras Seal Rookery:

The elephant seals live here year-round, and you can enjoy them (at a safe distance) at Piedras Negras Seal Rookery. The location is teeming with walkways, interpretive signs, and helpful docents to instruct you on all things seal elephant.

Cambria East Village:

Just like New York, Cambria has both an East and a West Village. The East Village is replete with quaint Victorian homes dating from the 1870s. Galleries, restaurants, and specialty shops abound, perfect for a spending-spree or just a pleasant afternoon of window shopping.

Cambria West Village:

Centered around Main Street, the West Village is closer to the ocean. Home to numerous hotels, inns, and restaurants, this part of town holds its own charms.

Big Sur:

Ninety miles of pristine California coastline: who can argue with that? Enjoy some of the most lush topography in America on this quiet but inviting stretch of shoreline.
